Browsed through the thrift store yesterday and found myself some pieces to use in my still life paintings. When I got home and was thinking about what to do with for a daily painting, I decided that there was no time like the present to break my new pieces in. So I did a group portrait of the three pieces.
One thing I did today that was a bit different was set a timer for one hour. It was sitting right next to my easel so it was hard to escape it. I am going to break this habit of overworking my brush strokes if it kills me. So, this is a speed painting. And though I don’t think it is my best work, I am actually quite pleased with it in a lot of ways.
5×7″ oil on linen panel.
What a good idea! I think I need to try setting a timer, too.
You did a nice job on this, especially on the red fabric which looks soft and drapes nicely.

Like Fay said you did a wonderful job on the fabric. I like everything about this one. Way to go Dave!
