Had a bit of paint left over from yesterday’s painting so I decided to do another one. Again, I kept mostly to the bristle brushes, but did go to a linen panel. Mostly because I wanted to do a small painting that wouldn’t necessitate squeezing out anymore paint and the only 5×7″ panels I have are the linen.
I need to learn to keep medium out of the equation. These paints, mostly Rembrandt, are plenty juicy enough without adding walnut oil to the mix. A lot of the initial lay in for this painting is almost what I would describe as dry brush and it seemed to work a lot better for what I wanted.

I love the softness you have achieved here in the foliage and grasses, Dave – it really complements that beautiful egret!
