So begins another 30-paintings-30-days Challenge from Leslie Saeta. She has been torturing us every January and September for the past couple of years now with these challenges. She says it’s to get us to paint more. One of the things that makes it a little easier is to pick a theme that your paintings will be centered around. Back in September I chose figurative drawing because my work with the figure definitely needed some work.

This time around, I’ve chosen to take a ride in the Google car and go see the countryside. I will be painting thirty paintings of barns that I have found on Google Street View. A couple of years ago, Dottie Leatherwood did something similar with urban street scenes. Painting city street scenes really doesn’t interest me, but the countryside does.

So for the next thirty days you are going to see some of the barns that I’ve found all over this great country of ours. Some will be in great condition. Some will be in less than great condition. Let’s see how it goes.
