This is day twenty-nine of the 30-in-30 challenge. This isn’t really a Bargue plate. This is a drawing based on a drawing Raphael did of Michelangelo’s statue of David. He drew this image when the statue was first placed in the courtyard of the Palazzo Vecchio. With its current placement, this kind of view would be nearly impossible to achieve. You will notice that Raphael did away with the sling over the shoulder of David and lost most of the view of David’s left leg. Kind of makes him look like he’s standing on one foot.
Just one more day to go on the challenge and I’m ready to get started on the last drawing. I’m not sure what I want to do. I have some more Raphaels, a couple Michelangelos and a couple Rembrandts. Hmmm, decisions decisions.
