Daily Painter?

SOLDI think it should be quite obvious that I don’t post a new painting each and every day.  I need to confess that I don’t paint every single day, but I do try. However, the reason that you don’t see a “Daily Painting” here is because I’ve decided to not post a painting unless I am quite proud of it. I’ve posted way too many paintings that were a little less than wonderful in my eyes. I’ve even started going back through some of the older posts and deleting those that don’t measure up. As my skills increase so will the frequency of posting new paintings.

I am also taking a little longer on some of my paintings that I used to.  One I am working on at this time is going on two days and looking like it is pretty close to finished.

Ever since getting two paintings into the show in Mesquite I’ve started to slow down and take my time.  I am following Leslie’s advice from a few weeks ago about entering competitions and juried exhibits as a way to grow and get your name out there.  I am now working on a larger piece, a landscape that I hope to have done in the next week or so, in time to enter it into the American Plains Artists show.  We’ll see how that goes.

The only exception I can think of to not posting less than stellar paintings is during Leslie’s 30 Paintings In 30 Days challenges.  Again, we’ll see how that goes.

So, wish me luck and I hope everyone is heading into a wonderful holiday season.  To paraphrase Hal in The Long Kiss Goodnight, “may the best of your 2013 be the worst of your 2014.”  It usually takes a few minutes for people to figure that one out.
